Nintendo Direct Feb. 8: What to Expect

Nintendo has announced that the next Nintendo Direct will be streaming tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 5 p.m. ET or 2 p.m. PT, for the first Nintendo Direct of the year.

These 40-minute directs typically cover any relevant Nintendo news, including up and coming games and coverage on any new technology produced by Nintendo that will be released within the next year or so of the Direct.

Nintendo has already stated previously at varying points that players can expect AAA games like Pikmin 4, the Breath of the Wild sequel; The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, a Kirby remake; Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe, Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demons and Metroid Prime 4 to all be released on the Switch in 2023.

There are still many other games coming onto the Nintendo eShop and other platforms in 2023, but those titles are where Nintendo players' eyes have been locked onto the most in recent times.

Is the Switch 2 Getting Announced During Nintendo Direct?

Besides rumors flying around, there is no definitive evidence to support the idea that there is a new iteration of the Switch coming out this year. But if it is coming out this year, we can expect it to be announced at tomorrow's Direct.

The most promising piece of evidence is the fact that a new console (excluding modifications to previous consoles; e.g. the Switch Lite) typically comes out every six or seven years, and the Switch came out in 2017.

Again, while most of this is speculation, previous trends would support that if a sequel to the Nintendo Switch is coming, news on it will be happening sometime this year.

The next Nintendo Direct will occur live-streamed on Nintendo's YouTube tomorrow at 5 p.m. ET.
