Xbox September Update Adds Support for Streaming Games to Discord

The Xbox September update is coming soon, and Microsoft has released details about what gamers can expect. The biggest new feature is the ability to stream your games to your friends on Discord, which has been available for PC players for a few years now.

The process is nearly the same as joining a Discord voice chat on Xbox, except there will be a new option to share your gameplay once you've joined the voice chat.

Xbox's September update comes with other goodies as well. They include a variable refresh rates (VRR) update that lets you choose whether you want VRR enabled in games only or all the time. Rewards are also easier to check with a new tab on your Xbox profile. A new wishlist notification will send you a quick reminder when a wishlist item has been launched.

On the hardware side of things, users will be able to pair new accessories without the need to hit the pair button on the console. All you'll have to do is to put the accessory into pair mode and then access the new "Connect a Device" option in the Xbox Accessories section of the settings menu to continue pairing. The pair button is faster, but this new method means you don't have to leave the couch.

For social gaming, Xbox is rolling out a feature where you can request to join a friend's game. Your friend can view your request and let you join or invite you to their party to talk about it.

The company also touched more on its controversial new enforcement system. One of the new systems rolling out this month is the ability to capture 60-second clips with in-game audio to submit if someone is being unpleasant in the voice chat.

Finally, Xbox freshened up its Xbox app on PC, which promises faster and better performance along with a consolidated, easier menu system. It also features the return of the game launch countdown to add some hype to new releases.

Microsoft also confirms that Starfield, Gris, Lies of P, and Solar Ash are coming to Xbox Game Pass in September.
