Stardew Valley to Get 1.6 Update

Stardew Valley is set to get its 1.6 update soon, but developer Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone says "it won't be huge."

The Stardew Valley creator has been hard at work on his next game Haunted Chocolatier which, according to a tweet, will have some connection to the indie hit Stardew Valley. A fan tweeted to Barone asking if Stardew will be getting more updates, and whether or not Haunted Chocolatier will contain any references to the farming sim.

Barone replied, "1.6, yes. But it's mostly a modding-focused update (makes modders lives easier). There will be some new content but it won't be huge. 1.7? Who knows."

Stardew Valley has been an immense hit with fans, and the modding community has only allowed the game to flourish even more.

As for Haunted Chocolatier's connection to Stardew Valley, Barone said that the game will have Stardew references: "I haven't decided how deep the connection will be exactly. I want Haunted Chocolatier to have its own identity."

Stardew Valley's last major update was 1.5, which saw the addition of new locations such as Ginger Island, new NPCs, new dungeons, and more. While fans are no doubt keen to see the farming sim receive more major content updates, the focus seems to be on the upcoming Haunted Chocolatier — a game that carries most of Stardew's pixel art style and assets but with a greater focus on combat.

There's currently no release date scheduled for Haunted Chocolatier. An announcement back in October 2021 revealed that the game is still in early development.
