Reserved List MTG Explained: List of Cards, Sets

Magic: The Gathering is a trading card game with a long history -- a 30-year history, to be precise, and over three decades there have been thousands of Magic cards printed. As design and balancing philosophies have changed, some cards are just too good, or too valuable, to be printed again. Enter the Reserved List.

At its core, The Reserved List is a set of old Magic cards that have been determined too valuable on the secondary Magic market to ever be reprinted in an official capacity - lest such an action would cause a crash and plunge Magic collector value into the dumpster. The majority of Reserved cards were printed before 2000, and are some of the rarest and most valuable on the Magic collectors' market.
