The Pokémon Company has announced that some online features will no longer receive updates in Pokémon Sword & Shield.

As the release date for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet approaches, Game Freak and The Pokémon Company have begun moving to sunset Pokémon Sword & Shield. As reported by Serebii.net, certain online features will no longer receive updates.

Wild Area News will receive one final update on Nov. 1, 2022 adding Pokémon not normally available such as Gigantamax Snorlax. After that, there will be no more Wild Area news updates. Battle Stadium will also no longer update with a ranked season after November 1st.

Results for the Ranked Battle Season will not appear in Pokémon HOME, and there will be no further online competitions. Friendly Competitions can still be played but they won't be displayed in Pokémon HOME from Dec. 1, 2022.

Despite these functions closing, Game Freak and The Pokémon Company have confirmed that all Y-Comm and other online features will continue to be accessible.

All this seems to be enabling the studios to shift their focus primarily over to the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, set to release on Nov. 18, 2022.
