Pokémon GO Mythical Wishes Event Explained

For this December, Pokémon GO is set to have a two-part holiday-themed winter event as part of its ninth season Mythical Wishes. There is a lot to do in Pokémon GO during the holidays so here is what players can expect in Mythical Wishes this December.

Pokémon Debuts

The first part of the winter event will be from 10 a.m. local time from Dec. 15 to 10 a.m. on Dec. 23. The event will feature the debut of the third generation Pokémon Mega Glalie. Players can encounter Mega Glalie during Mega Raids. If you are lucky enough you might be able to catch a shiny Mega Glalie. Other bonuses during the event include 50 percent more XP for winning Raid Battles and Trainers can store up to 40 Gifts until the end of the event.

Wild Encounters

All of these Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild during the event. Of the Pokémon listed only Vanillite and Cryogonal do not have a shiny variation. Here are the wild encounters players will see:

  • Pikachu wearing a Winter Carnival outfit
  • Swinub
  • Delibird
  • Snorunt
  • Spheal wearing a holiday outfit
  • Snover
  • Vanillite
  • Cubchoo
  • Bergmite
  • Alolan Vulpix
  • Stantler wearing a holiday outfit
  • Cryogonal

Egg Pokémon

These Pokémon will hatch from seven kilometer eggs:

  • Sneasel
  • Smoochum
  • Amaura
  • Bergmite
  • Crabrawler

Raids

These Pokémon will appear in Raids during the event

One-Star Raids

  • Pikachu wearing a Winter Carnival outfit
  • Alolan Vulpix
  • Spheal wearing a holiday outfit
  • Galarian Darumaka
  • Bergmite

Three-Star Raids

  • Cloyster
  • Lapras
  • Stantler wearing a holiday outfit
  • Glaceon wearing an Undersea Holiday outfit

Five-Star Raids

When Cobalion is caught during the event, it will know the attack Sacred Sword which will have 60 power during trainer battles and 55 power for gyms and raids.

Timed Research

For $5.00 players can participate in the timed research event. Completing it will earn players an avatar pose and these other items:

  • Two Incubators
  • One Incense
  • Abomasnow Mega Energy
  • Various event-themed Pokémon encounters

Players have until Dec. 30 to purchase the tickets and have until Dec. 31 to claim any rewards.

Field Research Pokémon

The following Pokémon will appear more frequently as players attempt research tasks:

  • Seel
  • Shellder
  • Jynx
  • Stantler wearing a holiday outfit
  • Spheal wearing a holiday outfit

  • Glaceon wearing an Undersea Holiday outfit

Completing certain field research tasks will earn players some Abomasnow Mega Energy.

Avatar items and stickers

Players can earn these items and stickers by by spinning PokéStops, opening Gifts, and purchasing them from the in-game shop:

  • Holiday Pajama Bottoms
  • Holiday Pajama Slippers
  • Gifting Pose
  • Holiday Hat
  • Holiday Beard
  • Holiday Suit
