The Mountain Cup, a new tournament for Pokémon GO for players to partake in, has been introduced into the app with its own sets of specific rules to follow.

This tournament comes during the Rising Heroes event in Pokémon GO, which began earlier this month, in order to give spotlight to many different Pokémon like the Galar Regi duo, Gimmighoul and many more. With this event, there have been tournaments that have come and gone like the Color Cup, so after that tournament has ended, players get to look forward to the new Mountain Cup.

Here is some of the important information players will need to know going into this competition.

To register Pokémon into the Mountain Cup, they must fall into both of these categories:

  1. Pokémon must have one or both of the select typings (Ground-, Ice-, Rock- or Steel-type)
  2. Must have a CP level below 1,500

For the first condition, it does not matter if they have just one of the typings and have another typing that is unrelated to any of the four selected types (for example, Water- or Flying-type). This opens up for a lot more options of potential Pokémon for players to bring to the fight and win this tournament.

The Competition Points (CP) level requirement exists to prevent the admission of Pokémon that may be quickly over-powered and crush may other admitted rival Pokémon.

The Mountain Cup began Mar. 22 and will end Mar. 29 at 1 p.m..
