Pokémon GO Sustainability Week 2022: What to Look Out For

Sustainability Week is returning to Pokémon GO starting April 20 and running through April 25. As a part of this year's edition of the promotion, Sustainability Week will again feature new Pokémon making their debut in Pokémon GO, new shiny Pokémon encounters and a chance for trainers to make a difference in the real world too.

New Pokémon

  • The Sage Pokémon Oranguru makes its Pokémon GO debut, and will be available in 7-kilometer eggs and in wild encounters for trainers to catch. No shiny version looks set to be available.
  • Shiny Cherubi will be available to be caught for the first time ever in Pokémon GO as well. Look out for it in your wild encounters, 7-kilometer eggs, Mossy Lure Modules, and through research encounters

Timed and Special Research

There will be a special timed research event on April 23rd, that will give player up to five encounters of Cherubi per kilometer walked. Additionally, Niantic has pledged to plant up to 100,000 trees for each trainer who walks all five kilometers of this timed challenge.

Additionally, there will be special Pokémon GO Sustainability Week rewards from completing research tasks, with the possible encounters highlighted by chances at a shiny Turtwig, Snivy, and Trubbish as well as Mega Energy for Venusaur and Abomasnow.

Encounter Changes

The encounters available to trainers in 7 kilometer eggs, at Mossy Lure Modules, and in the wild are getting tweaked for Pokémon GO Sustainability Week 2022. In the eggs, Alolan Diglett and Larvitar are available along with Cherubi and Oranguru. Be on the lookout for shiny versions of these Pokémon as well!

At Mossy Lure Modules, Nincada, Bellossom, Gloom, and Chikorita highlight a sustainability and plant-themed roster of highlighted Pokémon. And in the wild, chances at encountering Venusaur and Phantump, as well as Oddish, Turtwig, and other featured Pokémon highlight the changes coming.

Event Bonuses

Niantic is encouraging trainers to get excited for the event by offering double XP at new PokéStops and handing out a free Mossy Lure Module to give players the opportunity to catch the featured Pokémon. All the details regarding new encounters and changes made can be found in Niantic's Pokémon GO Sustainability Week update post here.
