Microsoft's $1 Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Offer Is Back, But It Only Lasts 14 Days

Microsoft is bringing back its $1 Xbox Game Pass Ultimate offer, but it lasts less than half as long as before.

The old introductory offer got you a month of access to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass for $1. However, in March Microsoft pulled it and said it would be "evaluating different marketing promotions for new members in the future."

As IGN reports, the evaluation has now concluded with Microsoft reintroducing the $1 introductory trial, but it only lasts 14 days. After that, you either have to cancel the subscription before it continues automatically, or start paying $16.99 per month for Ultimate ($9.99 per month for PC Game Pass).

The less generous $1 offer comes ahead of the release of the much-anticipated Starfield, a game Microsoft really needed to launch last year. There's also a new Carbon Black Xbox Series S model with 1TB of storage launching on Sept. 1 for $349.99, which is $50 more than the existing Series S.

Last month Microsoft announced that Xbox Live Gold was being replaced with a new subscription service called Game Pass Core. It costs $9.99 per month ($59.99 per year) and combines online play, regular member deals and discounts, and access to 25 titles taken from a range of publishers including Xbox Game Studios and Bethesda.
