Madden ratings show the sad state of Packers receiving corps

As it turns out, even EA Sports' Madden 23 is not too crazy about the Green Bay Packers' wide receiving corps.

The Green Bay Packers' wide receivers depth chart is going to look very different in 2022 than in years past. Davante Adams, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and Equanimeous St. Brown all left this offseason, leaving the team filling the voids left with free agency signings and NFL Draft selections. A once great strength now appears to be a weakness in Green Bay.

EA Sports are not the biggest fans of the new look Packers wide receiving corps, based off their latest ratings for the upcoming Madden NFL 23 game. The Packers wideout with the highest rating is Sammy Watkins, but was given 79 out of 99.

Packers wide receivers get low ratings in EA Sports' Madden 23

If Packers fans were looking for an excuse to not buy Madden 23, here you go?

Rounding out the top three receivers by rating in the upcoming video game are Randall Cobb, ranking in at 78, and Allen Lazard, who received a 77 rating.

Watkins was the team's top free agent signing this offseason, signing a one-year deal. The Packers also addressed the position in the NFL Draft, highlighted by them trading up in the second-round to select Christian Watson. The rookie is received a 71 rating, which is more than the team's 2021 third-round pick Amari Rodgers, who earned a 69 rating.

Oh what could have been for the Packers had Adams stayed on the roster. The Packers traded him to the Las Vegas Raiders for first- and second-round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft, where he signed a five-year, $140 million contract extension. Adams' great offseason continued from a Madden standpoint, as he was named to the 99 club, receiving a 99 rating in the video game.

Valdes-Scantling and Brown left via free agency. Valdes-Scantling signed a three-year, $30 million deal with the Kansas City Chiefs, while Brown joined the Chicago Bears on a one-year contract. For those curious, Valdes-Scantling received a 76 rating, while Brown earned a 68 rating, per the game's official website.

The Packers lost a lot at the position, but they still have quarterback Aaron Rodgers. That is who the team is banking on to keep the passing attack as strong as ever. But on paper, the wide receiver corps is an area of obvious concern.

Madden NFL 23 releases on Aug. 19.
