Charizard is making its debut in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet in a new, unrivaled form. Trainers will have the opportunity to catch Charizard in Tera Raid Battles throughout December.
Similar to Max Raids in Sword and Shield, trainers must gather a team with up to four people to challenge the Tera Raid Pokémon. However, these new raids will be shifting from Dynamaxing to Terastal in-battle transformations.
How to Get Charizard in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Starting on Dec. 2, trainers will have the chance to encounter Charizard in seven-star Tera Raid Battles.
To start the raid with Charizard, trainers have to approach and interact with the black sparkling crystals scattered throughout Paldea with their team. They will then have a certain time limit to defeat Charizard. Charizard will first be appearing in this form through Dec. 4 but will be coming back from Dec. 15 to Dec. 17.
Sporting a Mightiest Mark, trainers must prepare for Unrivaled Charizard to terastallize into a Dragon-type. Charizard, who is usually a Fire and Flying-type will have an interesting transformation. As a Dragon Tera-type, Charizard will turn into Dragon-type defensively, rendering it vulnerable to Ice, Fairy, and Dragon-type attacks.
However, in this form, Charizard becomes more versatile and powerful when attacking. The generation one Pokémon will receive the Same Type Attack Bonus for its newly acquired Dragon-type and for its original Fire- and Flying-typing.
