God of War was initially released in 2018, and its long-awaited sequel premiered in the PlayStation Store on Nov. 9. God of War Ragnarök introduces a lot of new mechanics in the franchise while expanding on the gameplay and lore of its predecessor.

At the start of the game, players are given the Leviathan axe. Though it is useful for taking on a wide array of enemies, as the game transitions to a colder climate, its Frost Awaken ability renders itself useless when taking on frozen enemies.

This will be when Kratos moves on from the Leviathan axe and turns to his signature weapon, the Blades of Chaos. This will occur after his fight with Thor, which is approximately one hour into the game.

Elemental infusion is a central component of God of War Ragnarök. For the best attack, the Blades of Chaos inflict the most damage when players are able to charge up the weapon in battle.

To charge up the Blades of Chaos, players will need to mash triangle. This will coat the swords in flames. To activate the weapon's Flame Whiplash, players will need to follow up by pressing either R1 or R2. This will send out a long-range horizontal attack, igniting any enemy or object that makes contact with it.
