How to Catch Oranguru in Pokemon GO

Pokemon GO has been celebrating Earth Day since 2018. In 2021, they changed the name of the in-game event to Sustainability Week, a time to promote care and concern for nature and the environment. From April 20 to April 25, players will find themselves running into more grass-type Pokemon, and have timed research events to complete.

In 2022, Niantic is even offering to plant one tree for every player who completes a certain timed research event that will be offered on April 23. While players are out walking to help get some trees planted, they may run into Oranguru, the normal/psychic Pokemon introduced in Gen VII, who has just been added to Pokemon Go for Sustainability Week.

How to Catch Oranguru in Pokemon GO

There are two ways you can try to obtain Oranguru in Pokemon Go. The first, and most reliable way, is by trying to encounter one in the wild. Always check "nearby Pokemon" in the bottom right of your map screen to see if an Oranguru has spawned nearby, and you can attempt to go catch it.

The other way you can obtain an Oranguru is through 7KM eggs. This method is less reliable because the eggs have a chance to hatch into other Pokemon like Larvitar and Alolan Diglett, so it may take a few tries before you're able to hatch an Oranguru. If you're lucky, however, you may find yourself hatching your new ape friend in no time.

Alongside Oranguru being introduced to Pokemon Go, players also have a chance to catch a shiny Cherubi, the adorable cherry-like Pokemon from Gen IV, during Sustainability Week.
