Fortnite update 24.40 downtime

Fortnite update v24.40 arrived on May 17, 2023, at 12 am PT / 3 am ET / 8 am BST, bringing exciting new changes to the game. The downtime for this update has concluded, and the servers are now up and running, allowing players to dive back into the action at their convenience.

What's new in Fortnite update 24.40?

Ranked mode

With the release of the v24.20 update, Epic Games has confirmed that players can finally dive into competitive action in both regular Battle Royale and Zero Build modes.

Once Ranked mode is enabled, prepare to embark on an exhilarating journey through ranks such as Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Elite, Champion, and Unreal. The inaugural Ranked season, aptly named Season Zero, will extend until the conclusion of Battle Royale Chapter 4 Season 3. During this time, Epic Games will diligently address any issues or concerns that arise, ensuring a fair and enjoyable experience for all players.

Arena mode

As part of the v24.40 update, Epic Games has made significant changes to the available modes in Fortnite. With the introduction of the Ranked mode, the popular Arena mode has been discontinued.

Trios no longer available

Additionally, the option to play Battle Royale or Zero Build in Trios has been removed. Moving forward, players will only have the choice to play Solo, Duos, or Squads. These adjustments aim to streamline and enhance the gameplay experience in Fortnite.

Spiderverse crossover

Fortnite players can brace themselves for an incredible crossover event as Epic Games has tantalized fans with hints of an exciting collaboration with the upcoming animated film, 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse'.

Fans can anticipate a wealth of thrilling content, highlighted by the long-awaited debut of the Miles Morales skin. Additionally, the return of the Web-Shooters Mythic item promises to intensify the crossover experience.

'Star Wars' quests available

'Star Wars' enthusiasts, rejoice! The ongoing Find The Force crossover in Fortnite will extend its galactic presence beyond the v24.40 update. Exciting new quests are now available, allowing players to earn valuable points and unlock a plethora of free rewards. What's more, the adventure doesn't end there. You can continue to immerse yourself in the 'Star Wars' universe with an array of weapons and cosmetics themed after the iconic franchise until the event concludes on May 23, 2023.

Balance changes: Resource adjustments

In the upcoming v24.40 update, Fortnite introduces several balance changes to resources and materials. The most notable change is the reduction of material caps, decreasing from 999 to 500. This means that players will have a lower limit on the amount of materials they can hold at a time.

However, to compensate for this adjustment, the harvesting rate for materials will be slightly increased. Additionally, when a player is eliminated, they will now drop 50 units of each material, providing a chance for others to collect and utilize them. These changes aim to create a more dynamic gameplay experience and encourage strategic resource management throughout battles in Fortnite.
