EA's upcoming Dead Space remake has been given a hefty price tag, made all the more confusing by costing $10 more on console than PC.

We've seen the trend ramp up with new games hitting that $70 price point. The cost of new games has been a strong point of contention, often pricing out a large portion of the gaming community. The trend has been even more confusing when it comes to remasters and remakes, often costing the same as brand new AAA titles. We've seen this happen with games like The Last of Us remake, a game which also launched at $70.

It seems EA's upcoming Dead Space remake will also be given the same treatment, set to cost $70 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Steam and Epic Games Store copies will be a little bit cheaper, sitting at $60.

What sets the Dead Space remake apart, perhaps, is that it's been rebuilt from the ground-up. In addition, the remake sets to add in additional features that aren't present in the original, such as more voice lines for protagonist Isaac Clarke, new side quests, and various gameplay additions. What these additional features don't quite explain is the price hike on consoles compared to PC.

EA recently dropped the first official gameplay trailer for the Dead Space remake, which launches on Jan. 27, 2023.
