Can Haunter be Shiny in Pokémon GO?

Can Haunter be shiny in Pokémon GO? With Halloween just a couple of weeks away, there is no better way to celebrate than having Haunter featured as this week’s Spotlight Pokémon. During this special hour on Oct. 11, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time, trainers have an increased chance of encountering Haunter; this is particularly useful for filling up your Pokedex as well as earning candy to strengthen and evolve Haunter into Gengar. However, before trainers grind to get their hands on as many Haunter as they can, is there the possibility of Haunter being shiny in Pokémon GO?

Haunter has been a fan favorite since it was introduced in generation one. Additionally, its poison and ghost-typing make the Pokémon exceptionally useful in battle. Weak to only ghost, psychic, and dark-type moves, it is resistant to poison, bug, grass, and fairy attacks. Haunter is also completely immune to normal, fighting, and with its Levitate ability, ground-type moves.

Can Haunter be Shiny in Pokémon GO?

Now the question still stands: can Haunter be shiny in Pokémon GO? The answer is yes, but there are some things trainers should keep in mind before grinding to catch it in the wild.

Very similar to the original, shiny Haunter is distinguishable by its blue mouth. However, unfortunately, in Pokémon GO, Haunter, in its shiny form, is not catchable in the wild. The only way to obtain a shiny Haunter is to evolve a shiny of its first form, Ghastly. This gas Pokémon typically has a higher chance of spawning in foggy and cloudy weather.

Though trainers are unable to catch a shiny Haunter, be sure to keep your eye out for Litwick's shiny debut into Pokémon GO during its Community Day on Oct. 15.
