Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Reveal Reportedly Set for Early June

It appears we just might already have a sense of the timeline leading up to Activision and Infinity Ward's official for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Back in February, not only was this year’s COD confirmed to be a sequel to Modern Warfare (2019), but plenty of leaks also came out at the time regarding the game's multiplayer. In April, more leaks surfaced, seemingly containing key intel regarding MW2 2022's weapons and a May 30 reveal date. Now, it appears Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is set to be officially revealed at the start of next month.

According to an eXputer report made by prominent gaming insider Tom Henderson on Thursday, "several sources" have suggested that the first glimpse of this year’s Modern Warfare 2 title is set to be revealed in June before Summer Games Fest 2022 via a reveal trailer likely containing just campaign footage.

Henderson added that more new MW2 campaign gameplay, potentially in a walkthrough format, is also expected to be revealed "at an event when E3 was meant to be." This is presumably Summer Games Fest 2022, which begins on June 9.

Beyond that, Henderson also reported that sources have suggested that Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer will likely be revealed in August, but it’s currently not clear if that will include a Warzone event a la Black Ops Cold War's "Know Your History" and Vanguard's "The Battle for Verdansk" events.

It is interesting to note as well that @TheGhostOfHope on Twitter, who has accurately released Call of Duty information in the past, has suggested that June 2 is the MW2 reveal trailer date.

On Twitter, Henderson said that he's "since been told it's not June 2nd," so it appears we'll have to wait and see just what Infinity Ward has up their sleeves when the time comes.

This past month, the official marketing campaign for Modern Warfare 2 has already begun to pick up steam, with players at the NFL Draft having been given a first look at the game as well as some icy Task Force 141 pins, and a logo reveal and an assortment of hashtags for the title going live on Twitter.
